Knowing Isn't Always Enough

And willpower isn't the answer

Maybe you've tried to lose weight or improve your health before. You've followed diets, cut things out, tracked what you eat, or promised yourself that this time you'll look after yourself properly.

And it works for a while. Until life gets busy, motivation fades or stress takes over. A weekend becomes a week, and you're back at the beginning, wondering why lasting change feels so hard.

The way we eat is shaped by far more than one thing. Your physiology, appetite and nutritional needs matter. So do your habits, thoughts, emotions, stress and the realities of everyday life.

That's why we created Beyond Willpower.

Your Body, Your Mind, Your Real Life

Beyond Willpower brings together two areas of professional expertise to look at the bigger picture.

Nutritional therapy, with Kiara

Understand what your body needs, and why. We'll cover appetite and satiety, energy, blood-sugar regulation, gut health, protein, fibre and meal structure, cravings and sustainable weight management.

This isn't another restrictive meal plan or list of "allowed" foods. It's about building a way of eating that supports your health, energy and goals.

Kiara Carthy-Barke,

Registered Nutritional Therapist, MBANT and CNHC

Recognise the patterns that tend to derail you, and learn different ways to respond. We'll look at emotional and stress eating, triggers, habit loops, all-or-nothing thinking, perfectionism, motivation and the "I've blown it" cycle.

This isn't about trying harder or being stricter with yourself. It's about understanding why you do what you do, so you can respond differently when life gets busy, stressful or emotional.

Two perspectives. One bigger picture.

Neither your body nor your mind exists in isolation, so we work with both.

What Could Change in 10 Weeks?

We'll help you move away from trying to "be good", falling off track and starting again, towards a way of looking after yourself that works in your actual life. You'll:

  • Nourish your body in a way that supports your health, energy, appetite and weight goals

  • Understand your patterns and what tends to knock you off course

  • Build practical habits that survive busy weeks, tired evenings and weekends

  • Stop one meal, celebration or hard day from becoming a lost week

  • Feel more confident around food, without rigid rules or perfection

Not another diet plan. Not another set of rules. A different way of doing things.

Your 10 Week Journey

Six core sessions, with an implementation week after most of them. Implementation weeks are for putting things into practice with group support, not more teaching.

WEEK 1 - RESET Why previous approaches haven't stuck: the dieting cycle, appetite, metabolic adaptation and body composition, alongside the restart cycle, all-or-nothing thinking and perfectionism. You'll create your Decision Board: what you want, why it matters, and what looking after yourself means to you.

WEEK 2 - IMPLEMENT Put Week 1 into practice. Notice your patterns, hunger and "starting again" thinking, with a group check-in.

WEEK 3 - NOURISH How to nourish your body: blood sugar, hunger and satiety, protein, fibre, carbs and fats, meal structure, gut health and plant diversity. Plus the psychology of cravings, restriction and reward.

WEEK 4 - BUILD Make healthy choices easier: planning, shopping, portions, simple meals and your food environment. Habits, cues, self-sabotage, and motivation versus commitment.

WEEK 5 - IMPLEMENT Practise Nourish and Build. Troubleshoot what's working and refine your routines.

WEEK 6 - UNDERSTAND Food, feelings and stress: hunger versus cravings; how sleep, stress and under-eating drive energy crashes; emotional, stress and boredom eating and their triggers.

WEEK 7 - IMPLEMENT Notice your triggers in real life and practise responding differently.

WEEK 8 - REAL LIFE Weekends, wine, restaurants, celebrations and imperfect weeks. Flexibility, alcohol and eating out, and swapping "I've blown it" for "recover now, not Monday".

WEEK 9 - IMPLEMENT Real-life practice through busy weeks and social plans, with troubleshooting and support.

WEEK 10 - OWN IT Pull it all together: your nutritional anchors, meal structure, movement, signs of drift and how to maintain. Revisit your Decision Board and make your plan for the months ahead. No restriction, compensation, detox or starting again on Monday.

How It Works

  • 6 core sessions combining nutritional therapy and psychotherapy, 1-1.5 hours each, all online

  • 4 implementation weeks to put things into practice, rather than piling on more information

  • A small group of women, so there's room for conversation and questions

  • Ongoing support and a private group chat throughout

  • Practical tools, including your Decision Board

This isn't ten weeks of lectures. You'll learn, try things, notice what happens, adjust and build something that works for you.

Is Beyond Willpower For You?

It could be a good fit if:

  • You're tired of starting again with food or your health

  • You want to improve your health or manage your weight without another restrictive diet

  • You know some of what you "should" do but struggle to do it consistently

  • Stress, emotions, cravings, weekends or all-or-nothing thinking knock you off course

  • You want to understand the why, not just be handed more rules

You don't need to arrive with a perfect diet. That's rather the point.

Kiara

Questions

Is this a diet?

No. There's no meal plan to follow perfectly. You'll learn what your body needs and build habits that fit your life.

What if I miss a session?

You'll get any session materials and a summary of what we covered, and you can catch up with us in the group chat.

I have a health condition, or a diagnosed or suspected eating disorder. Is it right for me?

Please get in touch before booking so we can talk it through. This group may not be the right fit for everyone, and we'd rather help you find the right support.

How do I pay?

Booking opens in November. Register your interest and you'll be the first to hear.

If you have any further questions just send us a message and we will get back to you.
